If you want to collectively modify the PING and UPTIME service monitor settings, you will need to create a service group to manage those monitors. Here are the steps necessary to accomplish that:
- create a new service group called "Ping and uptime"
- create a Ping monitor, "New PING" with the desired monitoring settings and assign it to the "Ping and uptime" service group
- do the same for the up.time agent monitor, "New UPTIME"
- add the appropriate system(s) to the service group
Now any changes made to "New Ping (master)" or "New UPTIME (master)" in the "Ping and uptime" service group will be reflected in the (member) monitors for each of the systems added to the service group
To eliminate the unnecessary duplicate checks, you can delete the default PING and UPTIME monitors for each host but before doing so, you'll have to change the host check; by default the host check is set to the default PING monitor. This knowledge base article explains how to change the host check: http://support.uptim...icle.php?id=396.
