Generating Performance Graphs
Overview
In Brief
The performance statistics that are gathered by up.time are able to be displayed usefully through the graphing features of the up.time monitoring station. This tutorial will display two of the more common graphes. Generating other graphs is very similar to the ones listed here.
CPU Usage Graph
- from the "My Portal" page, click the "My Enterprise" tab
- find the system you intend to produce the graph for and then click the graphing button to the left of the host name
- click the CPU "Usage (% Busy)" link on left side of the page
- select the period of time you would like represented in the graph and then click the Generate button
- on the graph you are able zoom in by clicking and holding the left mouse button and then dragging down and right over the portion of the graph that you would like zoomed
- to reset the graph back to the original view, either click "r" (Java graph) or clicking and dragging up and left (ActiveX graph)
Detailed Process Information List
- from the "My Portal" page, click the "Services" tab
- find the system you intend to produce the process list for and then click the graphing button to the left of the host name
- click the "Detailed Process Information" link on left side of the page
- this page lists the current process activity as of the last polling, as well as the time period options at the top
- select a time period and then click the "Display Process Information" button
- the list of processes that is displayed initially is the most recent sample
- you can also select one of the sample times from the range you chose using "Sample Time" drop down box
- if you click one of the process names, two graphs will be generated at the bottom of the page displaying the cpu usage and memory usage for the process using the time period specified
