Installing the up.time Monitoring Station

Installing up.time on Linux and UNIX Systems

To install up.time on Linux and UNIX systems, follow these steps:

1. Download the latest version of the monitoring station for your platform from the uptime Support site under the Downloads section (login required).
2. FTP or copy the up.time installation file to your monitoring station system (use binary mode for FTP transfers).
3. Login to your monitoring station as root.
4. Extract the monitoring station executable file:
   

   # gzip -d <filename>

5. Make the file executable with the following command:

   # chmod +x <filename>

6. Run the following command to begin the installation:

   # ./<filename>

   Where <filename> is the name of the installer file that you downloaded.

7. Follow the instructions that appear on screen to install the up.time monitoring station.
8. When the Completed message appears, up.time is ready for use.

Uninstalling up.time on Linux and UNIX systems

To uninstall the up.time monitoring station on Linux or UNIX systems, run the following commands:

# cd "<up.time directory>/Uninstall_up.time"
# ./Uninstall_up.time

Follow the instructions that appear on screen.

Installing up.time on Windows Systems

To install up.time on Windows, download the up.time installation file to your monitoring station system and run the executable file. The installation process will guide you through the rest of the steps.

Note: ensure that you install up.time as a local system Administrator (not a domain administrator).

Uninstalling up.time on Windows Systems

Uninstall up.time by opening the Control Panel and clicking on Add and Remove Programs. Find the up.time program, click Remove and follow the instructions that appear on screen.
