article MySQL Monitor error: Insufficient status data returned

Monitor: MySQL (Advanced Metrics)

Status Message:
Status: CRIT

Message: Insufficient status data returned

Response time: 437

This error message appears if up.time is not able to collect all required performance metrics from the MySQL database. There are several potential reasons that may cause this condition:

  1. The user does not have full permissions.  To test this, validate that the user has the ability to execute Show Status.
  2. The MySQL version is earlier than 4.x.  Older versions of MySQL are not supported.
  3. A selected metric is not working.  Try removing selected metrics until the monitor functions correctly.
