article How do I auto-discover my ESX environment?

It is highly recommended to use Auto-Discovery to add your ESX servers to up.time.  You can use Auto-Discovery to add ESX servers by following these steps:

  1. Open the Auto-Discovery window by clicking Auto-Discovery in the My Enterprise panel.
  2. Click the ESX Discovery option.
  3. Complete the following fields:
    • Virtual Center Host Name: name of the system on which Virtual Center is running.
    • Username: user name required to login to Virtual Center.
    • Password: password required to login to Virtual Center.
  4. After clicking Continue, up.time should return a list of the ESX servers the user has permission to view.
  5. Click the Add button beside the server that you want to add to open the Add System / Network Device window.
  6. Add the Username and Password to login to the ESX system.  Note that this is different from the username and password used above.  Usually this login is the root user on the ESX system or another user with similar permissions.  For more information, please refer to What permissions does up.time require for ESX monitoring?
  7. Click Save in the Add System / Network Device window.
  8. Repeat steps 5 to 7 for each system that you want to monitor.
