article How do I create an Application?

up.time uses Applications to group together disperse service monitors into a single status of up or down.  To create an Application, follow these steps:

  1. Create all of the service monitors you would like to include in the Application.  Monitors can be from any element and of any type.
  2. Click My Enterprise.
  3. Click Add Application.
  4. Provide a Name and Description of the Application in the pop-up.
  5. Select Master monitors from the available drop down lists.  Master monitors should be monitors that determine the total availability of your Application.  If any master Monitor fails, the application will indicate an outage of a critical component.
  6. Select Regular monitors from the available drop down lists.  Regular monitors should be monitors that indicate there could be a problem with your Application but the Application has not failed.  Common examples include performance degradation or failure of secondary cluster nodes.  If a member monitor fails, it will not impact the overall status of the Application.
  7. Click Save.

Your Application should now be visible in the GlobalScan and View Applications tab.
