article vCenter 5 Compatibility with up.time

VMware has released update 1 for vCenter 5 that addresses some vCenter instability issues and improves up.time monitoring consistency.  The official name for this release is vCenter 5.0 U1 but up.time will report this version as 5.0.0 build 623373 on the vCenter's information view.

For additional details about the vCenter 5.0 U1 release, see the official release notes on the VMware website.

Monitoring vCenter 5.0 without the U1 update may produce the following symptoms:

  • up.time alerting about failed connection attempts to the vCenter due to issues with the supplied credentials, even though those credentials are confirmed to be valid.
